Gauge for Small bag (sport weight): 18 sts X 24 rows for 4"
Gauge for Large bag (worsted weight): 14 sts X 20 rows for 4"
The pattern has instructions for a handbag or a shoulder bag when using medium weight yarn, and for an evening bag using sport weight yarn. All versions have clever straps of differing lengths to hold the bag closed.

For the larger bag we recommend using Blackberry Ridge's medium weight 100% Wool from the Natural Colors or the Traditional Colors, or our medium weight 25% Mohair/75% Wool yarn. Three 4 ounce skeins of any of these will be required. One set of five size 10-1/2 double pointed needles and circular needle size 10-1/2, 24 inches long is recommended

For the evening bag we recommend using our sport weight 100% Wool yarn in either our Traditional Colors or our Kaleidoscope Colors. One four ounce skein of the Traditional Color yarn or two 2 ounce skeins of the Kaleidoscope Colors will be required. One set of five size 8 double pointed needles and a circular needle size 8, 24 inches long is recommended.
