Many of the patterns in this shawl were inspired by Christine Duchrow, a German woman who lived near Tempelhof Germany, which was the major airport used for the Berlin Airlift in 1948-49. This connection was the inspiration for the name.
Our Thistledown (lace singles) was used to make the sample and is available in Natural Cream exclusively.
The size of this shawl is approximately 56" wide and 37" down the center, and requires 4 oz of a light lace weight yarn.
We are introducing a new lace weight yarn that will also work well for this pattern. Made of 50% Silk and 50% Merino Wool, it comes in 2 oz. skeins with approximately 600 yards per skein.
